Aims and Scope
The journal publishes original research reports, authoritative reviews and case reports of experimental and clinical sciences. The EXCLI Journal is particularly keen to keep a broad view of science and technology, and therefore welcomes papers which bridge disciplines and may not suit the narrow specialism of other journals. Although the general emphasis is on biological sciences, physical and chemical aspects are published often.
Note: EXCLI Journal is entirely independent of the University of Dortmund and the Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors, Dortmund. Views expressed are those of the editors of EXCLI Journal or its authors.
Key Features
- Open access to full text articles as the journal is managed by the Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors with no commercial interest
- Publication is free of costs for scientists
- Color pictures are also published free of costs
- Online submission and reviewing process
- Publication is rapid: EXCLI J guarantees a decision by two referees within 20 days after the manuscript is received.
- Fast track system: Many authors may feel their data should be published even faster. EXCLI J will agree to a manuscript entering fast-track when this is requested by the authors. In this case EXCLI J is prepared to give a decision within 7 days. However, the rate of rejections is higher for the fast track.
- First submissions of manuscripts may be done in any format. For instance, it is not necessary to format references in the style of EXCLI J. As soon as a manuscript is accepted the authors may format their article in the style of EXCLI J. We guarantee publication within 7 days as soon as we receive an accepted, correctly formatted manuscript.
- Although the majority of our articles does not exceed 10 pages there is no limitation of space. Long articles and extensive reviews are also welcome. Also extensive descriptions of Materials and Methods that facilitate reproduction of experiments as well as additional materials (films, simulations, original data sets) may be published by EXCLI J.
