Die zukünftige Bedeutung multimedialer Kommunikationsnetze

Abstract

Im Februar 1998 wurden die Ergebnisse der Delphi `98-Studie, einer Umfrage zur globalen Entwicklung von Wissenschaft und Technik, veröffentlicht. Ein Themenfeld ist explizit der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik und ihren Anwendungen gewidmet, wobei letztere aber auch in andere Fragebögen wie "Dienstleistungen und Konsum" Eingang gefunden haben. Der zweimaligen Befragung haben sich schließlich über 1.800 Forschungs- und Entwicklungs-Experten aus Unternehmen und Hochschulen unterzogen. Die Auswertung der Delphi `98-Umfrage hinsichtlich der Thematik multimedialer Kommunikationssysteme hat zum einen ergeben, dass es sich hierbei um eine Querschnittsthematik handelt, die in viele (Anwendungs) Bereiche anderer Technologiefelder hineinreicht. Zum anderen haben die Ergebnisse die hohe Relevanz vor allem für unsere wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Entwicklung deutlich gemacht. Aufgrund der Defizite Deutschlands im internationalen Technologiewettbewerb ist der Handlungsbedarf hinsichtlich privater und staatlicher Strategien insbesondere zur Verstärkung der internationalen Kooperation sehr hoch.

In February 1998 the results of the Delphi 98 study, a survey about the global developments of science and technology were published. One area is explicitly devoted to information and communication technologies and their applications, whereby the latter can also be found in other questionnaires like "Service and Consumption". Finally, over 1.800 R&D experts from industry and universities participated in the two rounds of the survey. The analysis of the survey concerning multimedia communication systems made obvious that they have a crosscutting impact on many applications of other technology fields. Furthermore their high importance for our economic and social development are supported by the results. Because of the German weaknesses in the international technological competition the need to develop provate and public strategies especially concerning international cooperation is very high.
