Abstract
Based on household survey data from the research project StadtLeben, the paper investigates residential mobility, location choice and location evaluations (in terms of requirements as well as satisfaction) by descriptive and multivariate statistical methods. The research focus lies on the differentiation by lifestyles, life situations (described by sociodemographic structures) and spatial attributes of the neighbourhood. Attributes of the housing situation are regarded as well. The results indicate that lifestyles affect residential mobility and location evaluations only to a minor extent, when sociodemographic structures are taken into account. However, there is a certain value of lifestyles to complement life situations when location decisions are to be explained.
