Abstract: | Scope of this thesis is the evaluation of the influence of the relative and absolute accuracy of the beam position measuring system on the performance of DELTA, a third generation synchrotron radiation source. Emphasis is put on the beam based calibration system, developed for DELTA, which gives an absolute accuracy of the beam position measurement with respect to the magnetic axis of the quadrupole magnets of 20um. Furthermore for beam position monitors with capacitive pick-up electrodes an analytical solution for the determination of the signal function of a beam with gaussian charge distribution in relation to the signal function of a pencil beam is given. The influence on the determination of the beam position is evaluated and the possibility to develop an emittance measuring system, based on these effects, is discussed. |
