Abstract

In institutionalistischer Perspektive wird die Institutionalisierung der Unternehmensberatung nachgezeichnet und die These geprüft, ob ihr gegenwärtiger Umbruch Chancen für eine Rückkehr von Gesellschaft und Organisation eröffnet. "Beratung als gesellschaftliche Institution" bietet neue Einsichten in die wechselseitige Beeinflussung von Unternehmensberatung, Unternehmensorganisation und Gesellschaft, die in Öffentlichkeit, Beratungspraxis und Beratungsforschung eher verkürzt und kaum als Möglichkeit wahrgenommen wird, die jeweils eigene Praxis zu hinterfragen. Dass sich das ändern kann, wird am Beispiel der kontingenten Re-Institutionalisierung von Unternehmensberatung gezeigt.

"Bringing society and organization back in" is not yet a topic of the consulting business. Focussing the institutional change and entrepreneurship of management consulting nevertheless helps to understand the way in which consultants in Germany influence their institutional contexts and connect their activities and the interests of other actors in society. "Paving the way for consulting business to grow" was their old storyline. Arising new institutions and transforming existing institutions will be a new challenge in consulting-fields and consulting research as well.
