Title: Coordination cages for fullerene encapsulation
Language (ISO): en
Abstract: In this dissertation, synthesis of coordination cages (Pd2L4, Pd4L6) for fullerene encapsulation is described. Chemical and physical properties of fullerene C60(s) encapsulated inside the coordination cages were investigated. In chapter 1, the background of the research is introduced. The scope of this thesis is described in chapter 2. In chapter 3, synthesis of a Pd2L4 coordination cage and generation and stabilization of C60•– inside the synthesized cationic coordination cage is discussed. In chapter 4, encapsulation capability scope of the Pd2L4 cage is described. Further, synthesis of C60Pd(0) complexes using the Pd2L4 coordination cage as a supramolecular mask is showcased in chapter 5. In chapter 6, synthesis of a pill-shaped Pd4L6 coordination cage and guest uptake and topochemical reaction between two nano-confined C60s. In the last chapter, conclusion of this thesis is described.
